A Day in the Life of a Game Changer, Katie Traviglia

We sat down for an interview with Katie Traviglia, Director of Human Resources at New American Funding to catch a glimpse of a day in the life of a Game Changer.

Here’s what we learned:

What inspired you to work in the HR field?

 Katie: I’ve always loved helping people, and that’s exactly what this field is about. Making in a difference in people’s lives matters a lot to me so it’s perfect, especially at New American Funding because I can help create a welcoming, family-type of environment for employees. I truly believe in our NAF360 values, like teamwork and respect, and I love that I get to help cultivate that spirit at the company.

What is your biggest professional accomplishment?

 Katie: Leading the HR department at New American Funding. Since I joined the team 5 years ago this company has grown very quickly. I think lifelong learning and challenging yourself professionally are very important, and that’s exactly what I’ve been able to do at New American Funding. I am so lucky to be able to manage this department because I work with such a talented team.

What keeps you motivated?

 Katie: I’m naturally a driven person and on top of that, this whole company is motivating, from our leadership all the way to our staff members. We have hard-working, innovative leaders heading the company and we all work together as a team to accomplish huge goals.  Working with them definitely inspires me to keep working hard.

What is your favorite part about working at New American Funding?

 Katie: It’s hard to pinpoint just one thing that I love about working here, but it would have to be the fact that I get to help motivate my colleagues to succeed in their careers. Through team building efforts, trainings and creating a fun environment throughout the company, we do a lot of things to help employees get where they want to be career-wise. I love being a part of that process.

Are things changing for the future of HR? If so, how?A

 Katie: The laws for HR are ever changing, as well as millennials and diversity in the workplace. At New American Funding we are really embracing these components to ensure that we are on top of what matters most.

Do you have a daily routine that help you stay efficient and productive?

 Katie: Every day I take some quiet time to focus on gratitude, get centered, and prepare for the day ahead. I make sure to make time for family and personal recreation outside of work so I can be at my best.
